Improve Mileage: After this has been determined, there are ways to improve your gas mileage and drive efficiently. Such as:

 

Reducing unnecessary weight that may be in the car. Lightening the load even slightly may add one or two miles to the gallon for your road trip.

 

Make sure your tires have enough air in them. This also saves you gas mileage which is a big plus, especially for longer trips.

 

Drive the speed limit or below the speed limit slightly. This saves gas. Try using the cruise control to help with freeway driving as well.

 

When driving on city streets, consider coasting to stop signs and stop lights vs. stopping and going. It actually saves on gas when you take this action as well.

 

After sitting at a stoplight or stop sign, don't put the pedal to the metal right away. Gradually increase your speed. This is very helpful as well.
