2020 Jeep Compass vs Kia Sportage

Buying a new SUV doesn't have to be a whole painful process that gives you a headache. The process itself should be easy, stress-free, and even enjoyable! At Rochester Hills CDJR, we work hard to give you a great experience, and offer you the kind of information that you need. Today we are looking at two of the top SUVs on the market today to help you figure out which one you should be adding to your family. These SUVs include the 2020 Jeep Compass and the 2020 Kia Sportage. When we first look at the Compass, we'll notice the unique features offered throughout the trim lineup, Jeep off-roading abilities, multiple package options, and even a new paint color. The Kia Sportage enters the year lacking the cargo space you want, and still there is no answer for off-roading capabilities. However, there is a standard 8-inch touchscreen. 2020 Jeep Compass Power & Handling

Jeep has never been quiet about the capabilities that their SUVs offer. It should be no surprise then that the Compass gives you the ability to enjoy some time on the trails, and away from the pavement. This is achieved with one standard engine that has the kind of flexibility you need to live your best life. The engine is a 2.4-liter inline-4, which can get up to 175 pound-feet of torque, and around 180 horsepower. To give a further boost, you can expect to choose from three different transmissions (6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, 9-speed automatic), and either two-wheel or four-wheel drive. There is a configuration here for you and your needs.

2020 Kia Sportage Power & Handling

Two different engines are available with the 2020 Sportage. The only transmission available with these engines is a six-speed automatic, which is a big letdown after the three transmissions offered with the Compass. The base engine here is a 2.4-liter inline-4, pumping out 175 lb-ft of torque and 181 hp. The other available engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which can create 260 lb-ft of torque and 240 horsepower. One bright spot is the option between FWD and AWD. The problem there is, all-wheel drive, while nice, is not four-wheel drive. This is not the vehicle for off-roading.

2020 Jeep Compass Features & Design

Even after browsing through the power of the 2020 Compass, don't forget about how great the styling is with this SUV! You will be able to choose between a few different trim levels, and they offer the kind of technology you have expected to find in Jeep models. Some of the standard features include a 7-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 4, Android Auto, heated side mirrors, Apple CarPlay, and 16-inch wheels. For added luxury, get the Latitude trim, which includes cornering front fog lights, upgraded interior fabrics, push-button start, and SiriusXM radio. Finally, the off-roading model, Trailhawk, adds skid plates, an off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, and Selec-Terrain with Rock Mode.

2020 Kia Sportage Features & Design

When it comes to trim levels, the Kia Sportage has a few options you can choose from. Some of the major standard features include air conditioning with rear centers, an 8-inch touchscreen, automatic high-beam assist, emergency braking, three driving modes, and lane-keep assist. Beyond that, the optional features include roof rails, heated front seats, a navigation system, a sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights and taillights, genuine dashboard stitching, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Between these two SUVs, the choice is clear. While the Sportage isn't the worst option, this was not an SUV meant for adventures. Meanwhile, the 2020 Compass gives you the flexibility to move between pavement and the trails without any fuss or issues.
