2020 Jeep Compass vs 2020 Ford Edge near Troy, MI

One of the most important steps to buying a new vehicle is research. A vehicle is a lofty purchase, and one you will most likely own for several years, which means you want a vehicle that you not only love to drive but also fits into your lifestyle. Sport utility vehicles are a splendid option for most people since they offer increased ride height, off-road capability, and plenty of interior space so you can stretch out and still have room for cargo. If that sounds ideal to you, we recommend checking out the 2020 Jeep Compass and the 2020 Ford Edge. We've even compared the two models right here to try and make your choice easier.

2020 Jeep Compass Power & Handling

The 2020 Jeep Compass is powered by a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine that comes paired with a MultiAir 2 valve train system. Thanks to this engine, the Compass boasts a best-in-class highway fuel economy rating of up to 32 mpg.  You can pair the Compass with either a six-speed manual transmission, a six-speed automatic transmission, or a nine-speed automatic transmission. The Compass can also be paired with either front-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive. The Trailhawk comes standardly equipped with Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4 system, which features low range and a 20:1 crawl ratio. The Trailhawk also comes with Hill Descent Control, so you can focus solely on steering while you traverse down a steep hill. The available Selec-Terrain Traction Management System comes with Auto, Snow, Sand, Mud, and an available Rock Mode to help get you through any sticky situation.

2020 Ford Edge Power & Handling

Two different engines are available for the 2020 Ford Edge. The first and standard in the SE, SEL, and Titanium is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The engine comes mated with front-wheel-drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. You can choose to outfit the Edge with all-wheel-drive. The performance-oriented ST model comes exclusively with a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine that makes 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The Ford Edge ST comes standard with all-wheel-drive

2020 Jeep Compass Features & Design

The Sport starts the 2020 Compass model lineup off with a 7-inch touchscreen, heated mirrors, automatic dual-zone climate control, USB ports in the first and second row, and smartphone integration. The Latitude tacks on roof rails, keyless ignition a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and upgraded cloth and simulated leather seat upholstery. Creature comfort features keep on coming in the form of the Limited model. The Compass Limited comes with a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, remote start, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The adventurous Trailhawk adds on to the Latitude models features with a raised suspension, the Selec-Terrain system, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and off-road tires. Popular optional features include a power liftgate, xenon headlights, a sunroof, navigation, and a premium nine-speaker Alpine sound system.

2020 Ford Edge Features & Design

The Ford Edge model lineup starts things off with a backup camera, dual USB ports, smartphone integration, a six-speaker sound system, and 18-inch wheels. The few upgrades that come with the SEL model include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, simulated leather upholstery, and power-adjustable front passenger seat. The real benefit to the SEL trim is the fact it unlocks several optional features like a hands-free liftgate, heated seats, and navigation. Most but not all of the SEL optional features come with the Titanium model along with leather upholstery and ambient cabin lighting. The ST comes with a different engine and a sport-themed interior.
