Introduction of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator

All new for 2020, the Jeep Gladiator promises to be one of the most unique and capable midsize trucks ever constructed. It's been twenty-six years since the last time Jeep had a midsize pickup in production, but the waiting looks to have been worth it as the Gladiator looks ready to prove its mettle by hauling and off-roading to your heart's content. Building on Jeep's rich heritage of tough and dependable vehicles, the Gladiator combines best-in-class 4x4 payload and towing, rugged utility, fuel-efficient powertrains, functionality, open-air freedom, and off-road dynamics along with numerous safety and technology features in ways unlike any other.

A Fresh New Take

The Gladiator makes use of design elements that are modern but still easily recognizable as a distinguished, rugged Jeep. Despite it now sweeping back into the hood for improved aerodynamics, the iconic keystone grille is instantly recognizable, though its grille slots have been widened to allow for additional air intake and increased towing. Traditionally square taillamps give way to a wide tailgate that, in addition to being able to lock in three positions, allows for easy and unobstructed cargo loading and unloading. The Gladiator is also home to segment-exclusive open-air freedom with its premium Sunrider soft top, which works to soften wind noise when down. There is also a fold-down windshield for off-roading purists.

Interior Luxury

The interior of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator takes features, comfort, style, and versatility and puts them all together in surprising and unexpected ways. The center stack has a clean and sculpted form, which is complemented by the horizontal dashboard design. All features controls are sculpted to be easily recognizable and easily within reach of the driver and front-seat passenger. These include an LED information display that shows media being played, tire pressure, current speed, and over a hundred other customizable options; volume and climate control, and connectivity and charging ports. The seats come in either cloth or leather with accent stitching on the outside, adjustable lumbar support and bolster on the inside. The rear seats have segment-leading legroom and an athletic look while at the same time are made from high-quality material for comfort and support. In addition to the three ports in the front, there are two additional USB ports and a 115-volt AC outlet in the back row to meet all your charging needs.

Impressive Powertrain Options

Two powertrains have been announced for the 2020 Jeep Gladiator. The first is the efficient and adaptable 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, delivering 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. All Pentastar engines on the Gladiator will come with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard equipment, but there is an optional 8-speed automatic transmission available as well. The Pentastar's low-range torque also benefits the Gladiator as demanding conditions on trails or while hauling cargo call for less. The second announced powertrain is the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 with 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Paired to the EcoDiesel is an 8-speed automatic transmission that has been designed to handle increased torque outputs. Aiding these powertrains are an unmatched combination of features like Dana 44 axles, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential, Command- and Rock-Trac 4x4 systems, segment-exclusive electronic sway-bar disconnect, and 33-inch offroading tires that allow for up to 30 inches of water fording. All these features come together to give the Gladiator best-in-class towing and payload at 7,650 and 1,600 pounds respectively.

We Can't Wait

With incredible powertrain options, a host of amazing features, and a design that's unquestionably a truck and a Jeep, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator looks to be one of the most unique things to come out in a long time. We can't wait to see what kind of adventures it has in store.
