2021 Jeep Compass vs 2021 Ford Escape

With so many SUVs to choose from these days, it can be troublesome to find the one model that best suits your wants and needs. We want the new car buying process to be exciting rather than stressful and that is why our team here at Rochester Hills CDJR has created this comparison review. Comparing the engine options and power as well as the trim levels and their features to see just how they stack up and which one is the right one for you. On the left side we have the 2021 Jeep Compass and on the left side, the 2021 Ford Escape. Keep reading to find out which one comes out on top!

2021 Jeep Compass Power & Handling

There is one engine powering the entire Compass lineup in the 2021 model year. Under the hood, drivers will find a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 175 pound-feet of torque and 180 horsepower. There are two drivetrain configurations offered for the Compass, front-wheel and four-wheel. With front-wheel drive, the Compass is outfitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A 9-speed automatic transmission comes with the four-wheel drive configuration.

2021 Ford Escape Power & Handling

There are three engines powering the Escape models. The standard engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder that creates 190 pound-feet of torque and 181 horsepower and comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Optional for the SE trim and standard with the Titanium trim is a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that creates 200 horsepower and comes mated to a CVT. The third and final engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that generates 280 pound-feet of torque and 250 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard but all-wheel drive is available.

2021 Jeep Compass Features & Design

Drivers have four trim levels to choose form when picking a Compass in the 2021 model year. The base trim is known as the Sport and it comes with USB ports in both rows, a rear bench seat with split-folding, dual-zone automatic climate control, steel wheels, Android and Apple smartphone integration, and Jeep's Uconnect infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen. The upper trim levels add features like satellite radio, automatic headlights, roof rails, keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, remote engine start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Compass' Trailhawk trim level is outfitted with features like tow hooks, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, skid plates, and a raised suspension. There are also safety features found in the lineup like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, and forward collision warning with automatic braking.

2021 Ford Escape Features & Design

Ford offers the Escape in a total of four trim levels. The entry-level S trim is outfitted with just a few features including a height-adjustable driver's seat, 17-inch steel wheels, a 4.2-inch central display screen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 6-speaker sound system. The upper trims only add a few more features like an 8-inch touchscreen, keyless entry and ignition, Android and Apple smartphone integration, alloy wheels, satellite radio, LED headlights, roof rails, parking sensors, ambient lighting, larger wheels, front parking sensors, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Most of the Escape's features are in packages that add to the price tag of the SUV.

Now that you have seen what both the 2021 Jeep Compass and the 2021 Ford Escape have to offer, we know it is clear that the Compass is the superior SUV. The Ford Escape does offer a hybrid powertrain but otherwise it is clearly lacking when it comes to features and the Compass is ready to take on every part of your life and go off-roading! Come on down to Rochester Hills Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and check out the Compass in person and join one of our sales associates on a test drive. We look forward to working with you!
