2019 Chrysler Pacifica vs 2019 Toyota Sienna near Troy, MI

Somehow in our work-a-day world, owning a minivan went from a sensible option for families to a byproduct of a dull and drab life in suburbia. Luckily Chrysler and Toyota are here to make minivans cool again! Both the Pacifica and the Sienna are not only terrific vehicles for families but also provide drivers with a ton of options, proving that driving a minivan is back in style! But which one is truly the best for you and your family? Well, we are here to break both of them down to find out.

2019 Chrysler Pacifica Power & Handling

All Pacifica trims get a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 287 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. The engine pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. With 28 mpg on the highway, it is one of the most fuel-efficient minivans on the market as it saves fuel by utilizing a start/stop system that cuts power at stoplights and other situations where the engine is otherwise idle. If you don't like this feature, you can turn it off via a button on the steering wheel. The Chrysler Pacifica also comes with an optional towing package that allows it to tow up to 3,600 pounds.

2019 Toyota Sienna Power & Handling

Every Sienna gets the same engine, a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive. Fuel economy is good if not-class-leading, and decreases even more if you decide to go with all-wheel-drive. With either option, the Toyota Sienna is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds.

2019 Chrysler Pacifica Features & Design

The 2019 Chrysler Pacifica is available in six trim levels each with its own set of options. The base L provides you with 17-inch wheels, keyless entry and ignition, a rearview camera, dual-zone climate control, and essential safety features like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The L also gives you technological features such as a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker audio system. If you move up a level to the LX, you will get features such as alloy wheels, body-colored exterior trim, an automatic engine stop-start system, tri-zone climate control and folding second-row Stow n' Go seats. The Touring Plus adds LED taillights, foglights, full keyless entry, and automatic climate control. The next level up is the Touring L and along with giving you standard features such as an eight-way power passenger seat and heated front seats, gives you several additional packages like a Premium Audio Package and an Advanced SafteyTec package. On the Touring L Plus trim you'll see such features as a heating steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and ambient lighting. At the top of the trim levels is the Limited and provides you with such amenities as 18-inch wheels, LED foglights, driver-seat memory settings, ventilated front seats, and a premium leather upholstery. The Limited is loaded and can also be bolstered with such options with an upgraded rear entertainment system with dual 10-inch seatback touchscreens and 20-inch wheels.

2019 Toyota Sienna Features & Design

The 2019 Toyota Sienna comes in five trim levels and provides features such as automatic headlights, keyless entry, five USB ports, and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player at its base-level trim. If you move up trim levels, you will get even more features such as heated mirrors, a sport-tuned suspension, a sunroof, and keyless ignition and entry. At the highest level Limited trim the Toyota Sienna provides you with 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear sunroofs, and heated steering wheels. Toyota's Saftey Sense also provides some decent safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Admittedly, the 2019 Toyota Sienna has some terrific features, but most of the features available on lower trims of the Crysler Pacifica are not available until much higher levels on the Sienna. Also, while the Sienna does offer Apple CarPlay integration, there is no Android Auto.

Conclusions

While it is undoubtedly a tough call, in the end, we are going to give a slight edge to the Chrysler Pacifica. We were blown away by all of the features that the Pacifica offers even at its base-level and the powerful engine and the Stow n' Go seating are great touches as well.
